Left in Germany as girl at par, Laura, in seventeen years, discovers first of all that she does not know so well the language of this foreign country. Then it is in the turn of the family that welcomes her, a couple and two children, to fluster her by their simple way of life, their behaviour, their habits. Did she come to take care of children, to perform domestic tasks, to improve this language or simply to grow finally? She arrived in a banal family which seems less torn than his, less heavy of secrets and however, little by little, Laura is going to confront several mysteries: mystery of origins, of transmission. She would so much like to disclose across these characters truth, sense who would allow him finally to fill up spaces and silences of its interminable adolescence. Does she admit by becoming attached to the only boy of the family the small brother whom she lost? Is she right with so much fever of news of his stayed in France? Because she finds at the grandfather's of the children a copy of Mein Kampf, she is ready to draw from hurried conclusions and cannot help reading these pages hit by proscription which the r vulsent while fascinating her. The mother of the children falls ill. The father seems to get closer to Laura every day. What does he search to her?
