Barcelona, 1920s. David Martin, 17 years old, works in the newspaper The Way of industry. Its existence overbalances an evening of crisis in the newspaper: it is necessary to find a substitute as a matter of great urgency to the sunday serial writer. On advice of Pedro Vidal, chronicler at his hours, David is chosen. Its serial meets a huge success and, for the first time, David is paid for what he most likes in the world: write.
